Chance = ways that win ÷ all the ways that can happen.
Draw all 36 results in a grid. Colour the ones you want. Chance of not happening = 1 − chance of happening.
Think of it like thisTwo dice can land 36 different ways. Count how many of those 36 give what you want.
Solved together
Throw two dice. What is the chance the total is 7?
There are 6 × 6 = 36 results.
Totals of 7: (1,6) (2,5) (3,4) (4,3) (5,2) (6,1). That is 6.
6 out of 36Simplify.
6/36 = 1/6
AnswerChance = 1/6.
