Question

A garden is 9 m long and 5 m wide. How much fence goes round it? What is its area?

  1. Fence goes around: add all four sides.

    9 + 5 + 9 + 5 = 28 m
  2. Area is inside: 5 rows of 9 squares.

    9 × 5 = 45 m²

AnswerFence 28 m. Area 45 m².
