A day has 24 hours. To find how long something takes, count on in easy jumps: to the next hour, then whole hours, then the last minutes.
Think of it like thisBreakfast is am. Dinner is pm. Midday (12 noon) is where am changes to pm.

- After 12 keep counting: 1 pm is 13:00.
Solved together
A train leaves at 9:40 am and arrives at 4:15 pm. How long is the trip?
Jump to the next hour.
9:40 → 10:00 = 20 minJump whole hours to 4 pm.
10 am → 4 pm = 6 hoursAdd the last minutes.
4:00 → 4:15 = 15 minPut the jumps together.
6 h + 20 min + 15 min = 6 h 35 min
