Solve it like an equation, but if you × or ÷ by a negative, flip the sign.
Look: x ≥ 3: 3 and every number to its right.
✏️ Your turn!
Type your answer and press Check. Kutty will tell you if it is right.
13x + 2 > 14
2−x ≥ 2
3Whole numbers with 1 < x ≤ 4?
! Careful!
✗Forgetting to flip when dividing by −2.
✓Negative × or ÷ → flip.
✗Filled dot for <.
✓Open dot for < and >. Filled for ≤ and ≥.

Solve it like an equation, but if you × or ÷ by a negative, flip the sign.
The answer is usually a range of numbers. Show it on a number line: filled dot means the end is included, open dot means it is not.
Think of it like this2 is less than 5. But −2 is more than −5. Making both negative flips which one is bigger!
- ≤, ≥
- Less/more than or equal to.
Solved together
Solve 5 − 2x ≤ −1.
Take 5 from both sides.
−2x ≤ −6Divide by −2. It is negative, so flip the sign.
x ≥ 3Check with x = 4: 5 − 8 = −3, which is ≤ −1. ✓
Answerx ≥ 3.
